1. Define the Hook’s law. Prove that Δ𝒍=𝑷𝒍/𝑨𝑬 with there usual notation. Mention each of the notations with there S.I unit.2. Draw the stress strain diagram of ductile and brittle material with all points. Distinguish between proportional limit and elastic limit.
3. Define Young’s Modulus , Poisson’s Ratio, Bulk Modulus, Modulus of Rigidity ? and write down the relation between them.
4. Derive the fundamental relation for deformation of body due to its self weight.
5. Define Elasticity, Plasticity, Ductility, Brittleness, Toughness .
6. a) The Young’s Modulus of a material 206kN/m2 and its modulus of rigidity 82kN/m2. Determine m & k?
b) Define tension and compression.
7. What is the sign convention of S.F & B.M ?Define S.F,B.M, point of contraflexture.
8. A cantilever beam 10m long carries a uniformly distributed load of 2kN/m over the entire length together with two concentrated loads of 5kN and 6kN at the free end and at 4 meter from free end respectively. Draw its S.F & B.M diagram.
10. Define Moment of Inertia, Polar Moment of inertia, parallel axis theorem, perpendicular axis theorem. 11. Determine the M.I of a triangular section? Define Long Column and short Column.
12.A simply supported beam of 6m long having hollow circular cross-section 15cm external dia and 2cm thick .find the maximum load W at is middle point. if deflection is 1.2cm. and E=200GPa .also determine the slope of the section.
13. Write down the name of different type of column and there effective hight.Define the Slenderness ratio.
14. Write down the Euler assumptions for the column . and write the rankine formula.
15. Determine the M.I of the following section.
